It's time to vote for the winner of the 2022 Nutmeg Book Awards! With so many wonderful and engaging titles, it's a tough choice! Make sure to vote by May 4th.
Mrs. Johnston will announce the Har-Bur winners May 5th, and the state winners will be announced May 16th. 
Grades 5-8 are welcome to vote from either list, or both! The grade ranges are recommended by the Nutmeg committee, but students are welcome to read and vote from both lists. Students should not sign into any account to vote, just click on your choice and hit submit.

On March 11th, students and staff filled the Lewis Mills Auditorium for their first assembly in 2 years. Rob Buyea the award winning author of the popular Mr. Terupt series, gave an hour long presentation to a full crowd. An outgoing, charismatic speaker, he kept the students on the edge of their seats. He shared stories from his years as a middle school teacher, and how those students influenced his writing. Much of his talk also included how hard he worked to be a writer, including his many failures.  Just keep trying, he stressed to his audience. After the assembly, he visited the fifth grade classrooms to meet the students and answer their questions. His inspiring words were a terrific end to our week.

Author Rob Buyea, of the beloved Mr. Terupt series was originally scheduled to speak at Har-Bur in April of 2019. Sadly the Covid shutdown cancelled that appearance. However, we are happy to announce that he will be visiting with the 5th and 6th graders here on March 11th.  While you wait for his visit, you can read all four books from the Mr. Terupt series. We also have  his Perfect Score Series and his latest novel What Comes Next?
